Overlooking New York City’s world-famous Central Park, 875 5th Avenue is home to many great apartments -several of which we have built! Constructed in 1941, 875 Fifth is a Pre-war Coop designed by the renowned architect Emery Roth. Thanks to the park’s planners Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, it has an 843-acre front lawn!

The Challenge

Successful renovations begin with inspired and efficient planning and preparation. Construction of any kind is a serious undertaking, yet enjoyable, relatively stress-free experiences are possible by choosing the right team. We pride ourselves on being great builders and excellent team players.

Working closely with the client and the estimable design team at TRU/ AG&NCY, the driving inspiration was to achieve as much of an open floor plan as possible while maintaining the original character of this classic Upper East Side apartment.

The Outcome

We brought in an engineer to survey each wall to make sure which were structurally safe to remove and proceeded to give the client the spacious family areas they desired. Upon entering you are warmly greeted by patrician details and then quickly awestruck by the vastness and inestimable character of light.

Our work here included new herringbone flooring, moldings, doors, and hardware. And, of course, stylish new bathrooms and kitchen. Ebony Woodworking fabricated and installed beautiful Shaker-style kitchen cabinets with spray-lacquered base cabinets and mirror-backed upper cabinets with doors fitted with clear glass doors and shelves. An oversized island with a gorgeous stone waterfall countertop, and radiant gold hardware and fixtures complete the look. The result is spectacular!
