875 5th Avenue is one of 5th Avenue’s finest pre-war co-ops in a truly classy, cultural, and comfortable location. With multiple projects completed in this building, we take pride in another exceptional apartment renovation overlooking Central Park here in Lenox Hill, right around the corner from the Frick Museum.
We paid careful attention to every detail in this fine, light-filled, single-bedroom pied-a-terre. Renovating pre-war buildings can be challenging due to several factors. Old plumbing waste lines beneath the bathroom floor needed to be replaced, as did the hot and cold water supply lines back to the main riser pipes. Additionally, updating the electrical wiring required us to chisel labyrinths in and through plaster block walls to accomplish a wonderful new lighting plan, including a new location for the electrical panel. Renovating pre-war buildings requires a delicate balance between preserving historical integrity and meeting modern standards of comfort, safety, and functionality.
We built a very sleek arched doorway between the walk-in closet and the primary bathroom and we updated the apartment throughout with extensive plastering, new wood floors, and fresh paint. The four door openings in the main hallway were treated with sliding barn doors on cutting-edge sliding track hardware. Our millwork team provided expert cabinetry and installed Corian countertops with an integrated sink and new cork flooring for another great custom kitchen. The primary bathroom walls and floor were finished with Tadelakt, a waterproof plaster used in Moroccan architecture, and all the surfaces were polished with wax. A custom cedar sauna was built from an an existing closet. Our millwork team also fabricated and installed an elegant custom-fitted teak shower screen.
